Human Life CORD Japan Inc. (President and CEO: Masamitsu Harata, Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan, hereinafter referred to as “HLC”), aiming to be the pioneer to develop and commercialize umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hereinafter “UC-MSCs”) globally as regenerative medicine products, entered into a joint clinical research agreement in January 2025 with the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul(UFRGS / President: Carlos André Bulhões M. Mendoza) in Brazil. This research will focus on identifying biomarkers specific to sarcopenia. The agreement was officially announced on March 26, 2025 at the “Japan-Brazil Economic Forum,” during the visit of H.E. Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, to Japan.

The Forum was held to strengthen cooperation beteween Japan and Brazil in the fields of economy, industry, and technology. It gathered over 500 participants from approximately 250 companies and organizations from both countries. A total of 74 memorandums and other collaborative agreements were introduced during the forum, including the joint research agreement of HLC.
 
The forum also featured panel discussions on themes such as “Environmental and Energy Strategies,” “Japan-Brazil Co-Creation for Sustainable Development,” and “Japan-Mercosur Economic Partnership,” leading to broad discussions on future bilateral cooperation.
 
Based on our corporate philosophy, “Cords of life, leading the future,” Human Life CORD will continue to promote the social implementation of safe and effective cell therapies based on scientific evidence. In this milestone year marking the 130th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan & Brazil, we aim to further develop international joint research projects that build upon the friendship between the two nations
